A lover of God and a lover of His church

Our Pastor

The Reverend Dr. Carl J. Solomon was licensed to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ November 8,1985 by the New Psalmist Baptist Church, and subsequently ordained in the gospel ministry as he served under his spiritual father Bishop Walter Thomas Sr. In 1991 Rev. Solomon was elected to serve as the pastor of the United Baptist Church in Baltimore, MD. Under his pastoral leadership the United Baptist Church has expanded her membership, ministries, and her reach as a witness of Jesus Christ in East Baltimore and beyond. Pastor Solomon attributes the success of United’s ministry to the faithfulness and favor of God and the faithful discipleship, stewardship, and service of the membership.
Among his many projects since his pastorate were a complete renovation of the existing church in which he began his pastoral charge, followed by the acquisition of a small city park, and eventually the construction of a brand-new multimillion-dollar sanctuary and administrative wing. And it is his vision to continue to expand the ministry’s campus and her community outreach in the heart of East Baltimore.

Dr. Solomon has served in the United States Air Force; he also holds a Bachelor of Science in Philosophical Theology from Coppin State University, a Master’s Degree in Spiritual and Pastoral Care from Loyola University of Maryland, and an earned Doctorate (Doctor of Ministry) from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, OH.

Along with Dr. Solomon’s pastoral responsibilities he also serves as a Doctoral Mentor at the United Theological Seminary in Dayton, OH. His Doctor of Ministry cohort is the Harold Hudson Scholars: Building Bridges for Church and Community Wholeness. (united.edu)

Dr. Solomon has shared in pulpits, conferences, and conventions across the country and beyond as preacher, teacher, and consultant. In 2013 Dr. Solomon was humbled and honored to be the Morning Conference Preacher for the notable national ecumenical gathering of preachers, musicians and choir directors: the Hampton’s Ministers Conference in Hampton, VA.

Dr. Solomon is an encourager and believes we all have a purpose; and that purpose is to make a positive difference with every opportunity we have through our relationship with Jesus Christ. To this end, he founded Be Encouraged, believing God blesses everyone with opportunities, possibilities, and indeed, victories as they live out their life of faith in Christ.
